What is your worst memory?

The first time I was robbed. Now, I'd been in hairy situations before, but I'd usually managed to talk my way out of them, or worst comes to worst, gotten out by going for the nuts and then fleeing. I used to think I could handle myself, having two brothers, but I learnt the hard way they'd been pulling their punches when a trio of guys forced their way into my shop shortly after Roger died.

They had knives, so I went for the big one with my metal file, thinking if I stuck him then they'd all bolt. They only needed their fists to take me down. I don't remember most of what happened after they banged my head off of the counter, but what I do remember wasn't fun in the least. I woke up in the hospital a day later with a broken arms, a whole lot of cracked ribs and my whole family gathered round waiting for me to tell them which bastards did this to me.

I healed up, but as for the permanent damage, let me put it this way: I don't have any scars, but not all of these teeth are my own. Of course in these sorts of things the physical damage is the least of it.

But that was so long ago that half my customers weren't even born then! I got over it years back, so don't you worry about me.
